Shadow Banking, G, 2, 2011 by Harlan's Holiday

3rd Dam: Pharlette (Fr), by Pharly (Fr)

Owner: Klaravich Stable & William H Lawrence
Breeder: Dr John A Chandler (KY)

Shadow Banking brought an exceptionally deep Chandler family turf pedigree into this belated career debut and was bet down into 7-5 favoritism. Settled kindly at the tail of a five-horse field, the $250,000 Barretts March graduate was waited with and patiently handled, crept up with a four-wide move on the sweeping turn and motored home through the stretch to score a decisive 6 1/4-length victory. The winner's dam, a full-sister to GISW Dynaforce and kin to monster turfers such as Cetewayo, Bowman Mill and De Aar, etc., is already responsible as a broodmare for MSP Profiteroles (Afleet Alex, MSP, $161,092) and Shadow Banking's full brother, the recent GI Secretariat S. runner-up Stormy Len, GISP, $229,675. Additionally, the aforementioned De Aar is the dam of Harlan's Holiday's talented grass runner Willcox Inn. Shadow Banking was also a $100,000 KEESEP yearling purchase. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $45,000.
