Tough Customer, a $550,000 Keeneland September yearling, showed a series of quick works at Monmouth Park, and was supported as the 3-2 choice for this unveiling. Away quickly, the bay pressed the pace from the two path. He started to inch away midway on the turn with a host of pursuers giving chase, but shut the door on all of them to open up 5 1/2 lengths at the wire and gallop out strongly. Fiveotwo (Kitalpha) completed the exacta. The winner is out of a half-sister to MGISW Pomeroy (Boundary) and a full to the dam of MGISW and "TDN Rising Star" Contested (Ghostzapper). He was the co-second priciest yearling to sell by his sire last year, tied with fellow KEESEP purchase and eventual 'Rising Star' Carpe Diem.
Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $22,200.
