Jockeys Ricardo Santana, Jr. and Didiel Osorio were released from CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Thursday afternoon after being injured in a spill earlier that day in Oaklawn's second race.
Osorio fractured his T5 and T7 vertebrae in his back when his mount fell over Santana's mount, who went down after clipping heels. It is expected he will miss six to eight weeks and he will be examined again Monday.
“He says thank you to all who have asked and prayed for him and promised to be back stronger and better,” agent Joe Santos said.
Santana suffered a separated shoulder and was scheduled to undergo an MRI Friday. No time table has been set for his return.
