A little over a week after winning the People's Award at the inaugural Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Horse Racing Excellence Awards in Dubai, Hong Kong apprentice Kei Chiong gained further recognition on the international stage when being named Best Lady Apprentice Jockey at the 2017 HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Darley Awards.
The prize was based on performances from the 2016 racing season, in which the young jockey finished sixth in the Hong Kong table with 37 winners. Her award was received during Friday's ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
The Darley Awards have been running for three years and recognise the achievements of female participants in thoroughbred and purebred Arabian racing around the world.
