Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Thursday's Insights features an interesting conditions race at Saint-Cloud, France.

2.20 Saint-Cloud, Cond, €26,000, 3yo, 10 1/2fT
Godolphin's NEW TRAILS (Medaglia d'Oro), one of two entries from the in-form Andre Fabre yard, is a half-brother to MGSW GI First Lady S. second Tizaqueena (Tiznow) and makes his seasonal return coming back off a one-mile debut score here in October. He is joined by once-raced stablemate Franked (GB) (Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}), who is a Juddmonte homebred son of GI Matriarch S. victress and G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches demotee Price Tag (GB) (Dansili {GB}). Other rivals include His Highness The Aga Khan's Nov. 12 debut third Devamani (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}), a half to last year's G1 Prix Ganay victor Dariyan (Fr) (Shamardal) out of G1 Hong Kong Vase heroine Daryakana (Fr) (Selkirk), from the Alain de Royer-Dupre barn; and The Allen Stable's Dream Awhile (War Front">War Front), who is a hitherto undefeated daughter of Listed Prix Caravelle scorer Baroness Richter (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}), coming back from a Nov. 8 Deauville debut win for Jean-Claude Rouget.

6.15 Chelmsford, Mdn, £8,000, 3yo/up, f/m, 8f (AWT)
EXTRA MILE (GB) (Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}) is yet another fascinating representative of the Juddmonte supremo who is entering a crunch year now that his first crop are poised for the Classics. This half-sister to the G3 UAE Oaks winner Local Time (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) out of a half to last year's GI Canadian International winner Erupt (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) races for Godolpin and Saeed bin Suroor and holds an entry in the G1 1000 Guineas.
