The University of Kentucky's athletic program has partnered with Keeneland and Maker's Mark with the goal of raising $2 million for their Center for Academic and Tutorial Services (CATS) program. Money will be raised via the companies' own contributions, as well as sales of special commemorative bottles of Maker's Mark bourbon, honoring past UK greats.
A bottle signing will take place at the Keeneland Entertainment Center on the morning of Friday, Apr. 14. Details are available on Keeneland's website. That afternoon, Keeneland will feature some of the nation's top turf horses in the 30th running of the Grade I Maker's 46 Mile.
CATS, the first center of its kind dedicated solely to student-athletes, provides primary academic support for UK's more than 500 student-athletes.
“Keeneland is committed to excellence in education, and the successful expansion of the CATS program furthers this mission,” Keeneland President and CEO Bill Thomason said. “By bettering the lives of students, we enhance the entire Central Kentucky community.”
Any companies or groups wanting to participate in the fundraising challenge should contact the UK Athletics office by calling (859) 257-6300 or emailing KFund@uky.edu.
