MARCY DARCY (f, 3, Smart Strike–Hot Dixie Chick {GISW, $343,252}, by Dixie Union) had no trouble with a six-month layoff, rolling to victory in the nightcap Thursday at Oaklawn. Finishing fourth on debut Oct. 8 at Keeneland in a live race that produced GSW Purely a Dream (Pure Prize) and last weekend's GI Central Bank Ashland S. Sailor's Valentine (Mizzen Mast), the chestnut returned as the 17-10 chalk in this spot and stalked the pace of Sweet Invention (Twirling Candy) from second through fractions of :22.11 and :45.49. Taking charge at the top of the lane, the Stonestreet colorbearer drew away by the eighth pole and coasted home five lengths to the good of the pacesetter. The winner is a half to Union Jackson (Curlin), SW & GSP, $208,924 and is out of the 2010 GI Spinaway S. heroine, who is a half to GI Xpressbet Florida Derby victor and top GI Kentucky Derby contender Always Dreaming (Bodemeister). Second dam Above Perfection (In Excess {Ire}) was a GSW/GISP runner. Hot Dixie Chick is responsible for a 2-year-old Street Cry (Ire) filly and produced a Bernardini colt Feb. 7. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $51,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
