TERRE (FR) (f, 3, Motivator {GB}–Trevise {Fr}, by Anabaa), a full-sister to the peerless dual G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}), Hwt. 3yo-Eur at 11-14f, 2x Hwt. Older Horse-Eur at 11-14f, 2x Hwt. Older Mare-Eur at 11-14f, Hwt. Older Mare-Fr at 9-11f, MG1SW-Fr & G1SP-Eng, $9,459,441, was unlucky when a close-up fourth over a mile at Maisons-Laffitte Apr. 10 and was sent forward this time to quickly establish a narrow lead. Stretching her rivals from the top of the straight, the 8-5 favourite who is also a half to the G2 Prix Greffulhe third Trois Rois (Fr) (Hernando {Fr}), SW & GSP-Fr, $194,694, and Trophee (Fr) (Mr. Sidney), SP-US, $288,515, hit the line with three lengths to spare over Jedi Princess (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}). “She's a filly I've always liked and she ran a nice race at two, but last time a mile was obviously much too short for her and I expected improvement,” trainer Criquette Head-Maarek commented. “She will probably follow the same pattern as her sister and head straight to the [G1 Prix de] Diane [at Chantilly June 18].” Treve was a relative unknown when she captured that Classic by four lengths from the subsequent G1 Irish Oaks heroine Chicquita (Ire) (Montjeu {Ire}) prior to her exalted exploits at Longchamp. Her dam is a full-sister to the GI Breeders' Cup Mile-placed sire Tsigane (Fr) from the family of the G1 Prix Saint-Alary winner Treble (Riverman), the champion sprinter Tamarisk (Ire) and also Triptych (Riverman), almost the “Treve” of her time in the eighties and a multiple champion who sits among the post-war greats of her sex. Lifetime Record: 3-1-1-0, €22,200. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
