INFLEXIBILITY (f, 3, Scat Daddy–Halo's Verse, by Unbridled's Song) nearly overcame a rough start to rally well for second at Gulfstream Jan. 7, and was 4-5 to go one better against this solid-looking field. Taken a hard hold of to sit midpack while hugging the fence early, the $340,000 FTKOCT yearling acquisition was asked for a bit more after six panels in 1:11.84. Swung to the outside for clear sailing in the stretch, she gobbled up ground impressively and galloped home by 1 12 lengths while never shown the whip. Newcomer Dovecote (Candy Ride {Arg}), also representing the Chad Brown barn, rounded out the exacta. The winner is a half to Fundamental (Arch), GSP, $437,254, and hails from the family of Hall of Famer Ashado (Saint Ballado), her GI Hollywood Turf Cup S.-winning full-brother Sunriver and GSW full-brother Saint Stephen. Her dam, who sold for $155,000 at the 2013 Keeneland November sale while carrying Inflexibility, produced an Elusive Quality colt last term before being bred to Speightstown.
