MORI (GB) (f, 3, Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}–Midday {GB} {Hwt. Older Mare-Eng at 9 1/2-11f & 11-14f, MG1SW-Eng, G1W-US & Fr, MG1SP-Ire, $3,438,502}, by Oasis Dream {GB}), who was learning as the race went on when fifth on debut behind the potentially classy Gracious Diana (GB) (Foxwedge {Aus}) over 10 furlongs at Newbury Apr. 21, was sent up to shadow the leader Glittering Jewel (Bernardini) from the outset. Gaining an edge over that rival with 1 1/2 furlongs remaining, the 5-4 favourite asserted from that half-sister to Street Sense (Street Cry {Ire}) to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Mori is the second foal out of theremarkable Midday, heroine of the G1 Nassau S. on three occasions and also the G1 Yorkshire Oaks, G1 Prix Vermeille and GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Her first foal was the winner's stablemate Midterm (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), last year's G3 Sandown Classic Trial scorer who was also second in the G2 Prix Niel, GSW-Eng & GSP-Fr, $103,174. Her 2-year-old colt and yearling filly are also by Frankel and the former is named Midi (GB), while her foal is full to Midterm. Midday's half-brother Midsummer Sun (GB) (Monsun {Ger}) was a useful Australian stakes winner, while her half-sister Hot Snap (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) captured the G3 Nell Gwyn S. and was third in the Nassau that her sibling dominated. She contested the G1 English and Irish Oaks and was placed in both, unlike her relative Reams of Verse (Nureyev) who was successful at Epsom in 1997. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-0, $6,669.
