The first Retrained Racehorse Day of 2017, hosted by Au-Dela des Pistes (ADDP), will be held at Le Lion d'Angers racecourse on May 25. The event will be in conjunction with the Anjou Loire Challenge, one of the most celebrated cross country races held in western France. Between races, there will be demos of polo–by the Passion Polo Club–and showjumping–by Anais Rimbod and Manon Filliou of Mikel Delzangles's stable–by ex-racehorses. ADDP continues to promote the versatility of these equestrian athletes, who are capable of adapting to a wide range of equestrian disciplines following their racing careers, with this goal part of a wider mission to promote the best possible lifetime care for all Thoroughbreds.
“The first Retrained Racehorse Day, held at Deauville last summer, was deemed to be a huge success, by both the racing public and professionals alike,” said Aliette Forien, President of Au-Dela des Pistes. “We strongly believe that it is essential for the image of our sport to promote the excellent work being carried out by the many horsemen and horsewomen throughout France who are successfully retraining racehorses and helping them transition into second careers. It is a win-win situation for all parties concerned, because the thoroughbred industry needs their expertise, while they in turn are thrilled to have access to such high-quality material to work with, at affordable prices and they are the best ambassadors for the many qualities of the thoroughbred as an equestrian athlete.”
