Queensland Oaks To Be Transferred

Next Saturday's G1 Queensland Oaks card will be moved from its traditional home at Eagle Farm after participants on Saturday's card at that course deemed the surface inferior for a Group 1 meeting. While there were no safety concerns, Racing Queensland cited the need to provide the best possible conditions for a Group 1 event. A new venue has not yet been decided.

“The decision, in light of the track performance at Eagle Farm yesterday, was made in order to present the best possible surface for Group 1 racing,” read a Racing Queensland statement. “RQ has consulted widely with industry associations and gained feedback from a wide selection of members including the nation's leading participants. The Brisbane Racing Club insist the racing surface at Eagle Farm was safe and results showed that many horses in the market ran to form. No decision has yet been made as to whether the Stradbroke meeting the following Saturday, which features three Group 1s, will be moved.”
