Nine winners of the G1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National S. have gone on to be crowned 2-year-old champion, and that Curragh feature on Sept. 10 during Irish Champions Weekend has this year drawn 102 entries, 12 more than last year. Looking to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Churchill (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who has added this year's G1 2000 Guineas and G1 Irish 2000 Guineas, will be 28 from the stable of his trainer Aidan O'Brien, including 'TDN Rising Star' Declarationofpeace (Declaration Of War) and recent maiden winner Murillo (Scat Daddy). Joseph O'Brien has entered Listed Rochestown S. winner True Blue Moon (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}), while trainer Dermot Weld has 13 entries. There are 27 entries from Britain.
Sixty-eight fillies have been entered for the same day's 2-year-old fillies' feature, the G1 Moyglare Stud S., including 'TDN Rising Star' Alpha Centauri (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}), who won the Listed Fillies' Sprint S. by five lengths, from the Jessica Harrington stable. Aidan O'Brien's 18 include full-sisters to his Galileo Group 1-winning quartet of Churchill, Minding, Gleneagles and Rhododendron. The 11 entries from Britain include Godolphin's unraced duo Poetic Charm (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), a half-sister to Teofilo (Ire) from the Charlie Appleby yard, and Thunder Snow (Ire) (Helmet {Aus})'s half-sister White Lightning (Ire) (Shamardal) trained by Saeed bin Suroor.
