A pair of graded stakes races will highlight the eight-day Summer Thoroughbred Festival at Los Alamitos, which begins Thursday, July 6 and concludes Sunday, July 16.
Fillies and mares will compete in the $200,000 Grade II Great Lady M. S. July 8. Expected to highlight the field is defending champion Finest City (City Zip), who used the Great Lady M. as a springboard to capture last year's GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint en route to champion female sprinter honors. The other graded event is the $200,000 Grade III Los Alamitos Derby held July 15.
A live-money handicapping contest will be offered July 8, with the top three finishers earning a spot in the 2018 National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas.
