Clive Cox is looking forward to the rest of the season with Harry Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) after the 3-year-old stamped his authority on the sprinting division with victory in the G1 Darley July Cup at Newmarket. The Lambourn trainer is targeting the G1 32Red Sprint Cup at Haydock on Sept. 9 and the G1 QIPCO British Champions Sprint at Ascot on Oct. 21, following his triumph from last year's winner Limato (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}) in what looked a vintage renewal of the all-aged six-furlong championship. In doing so, Harry Angel turned the tables on his G1 Commonwealth Cup conqueror, the Aidan O'Brien-trained Caravaggio (Scat Daddy), who was a never-nearer fourth.
“I was really thrilled,” said Cox of the Godolphin runner. “It was a performance to be proud of and he's come out of the race well. He's fine,” said Cox. Everyone was there–it was a very well contested July Cup. I think it will be Haydock next. I'd say that would be the one and the Champions Day Sprint, hopefully. He's very versatile from a ground point of view.”
