The G3 Bletchingly S. at Caulfield on Saturday is the season's final group race and it is shaping up into a fascinating contest that will feature former Australian Horse of the Year Lankan Rupee (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}). The Mick Price trained 7-year-old has not run since finishing fourth in the G1 Darley Classic at Flemington last November after which he sustained a suspensory ligament injury. The five-time Group 1 winner has been sharpened up for his return to action with two recent racetrack workouts. Lankan Rupee will face stern opposition on Saturday, including from Supido (Aus) (Sebring {Aus}) who proved his well-being with a comfortable win in the G3 Monash S. at Caulfield July 15. Another who will line up in the Bletchingly at the top of his game is the Robert Smerdon trained Ability (Aus) (Reward For Effort {Aus}) who is unbeaten in his last three starts. He gained his most important win to date last time in a listed race at Flemington July 8 and although Saturday is another step up in grade Smerdon is hopeful his charge will be competitive with Craig Williams booked to ride. “He hasn't missed a beat since [Flemington] so he'll line up,” the trainer told Racing And Sports.
