Blue Grass Farms Charities (BGFC) has received a generous grant from Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), BGFC President Dennis Brawner announced Monday.
“Thanks to the ongoing support from Thoroughbred Charities of America, and from farms designating stallion seasons in TCA's annual auction to our organization, Blue Grass Farms Charities will continue to grow its important programs and human services provided to thoroughbred industry workers and their families,” Brawner said. “Nearly everyone needs help at some time in their lives. BGFC programs and services provided a helping hand to those working in the thoroughbred industry more than 3,200 times this past year, an increase of 700 from the previous year. This tells us that workers families are experiencing more and more hardship.”
BGFC assistance for workers in the industry ranges from help with medical issues, housing, utilities, funeral expenses and food to partnering with community groups such as Blue Grass Community Health and GLEANKY to offer everything from health screenings to weekly free produce delivery.
