The two-day Tattersalls Ireland August National Hunt Sale has concluded with strong increases in most categories. The aggregate was €3,768,300 for 383 lots sold, good for a clearance rate of 70%. The average was €9,839 (+19%) and the median was €6,500 (+30%). A total of 22 lots sold for €30,000 or more, up from 17 in 2016. The Bushertown-consighed lot 434 (Vinnie Roe {Ire}) and the Glen Stables offering lot 550 (Presenting {GB})–both 3-year-old geldings–jointly topped the sale at €42,000. The former sold to Bryan Murphy, while the latter was snapped up by Gerry Griffin.
“The €100,000 George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper continues to be an incentive for this sale while the exciting new Tattersalls Ireland/EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle Series for horses costing €30,000 or less was also firmly in the minds of clients when selecting lots to purchase and has been received with very encouraging and positive comments,” said Tattersalls Ireland Managing Director Roger Casey.
