Dream Ahead Colt a Rising Star at The Curragh

Final Frontier, sent off the 15-8 favorite, broke professionally and enjoyed a perfect tow under cover in fifth throughout the early stages. Working his way to the lead with a furlong remaining, Final Frontier drew away to register an impressive 4 1/2-length score from Aspar (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}). Final Frontier becomes the third winner for his first-season sire (by Diktat {GB}). “I thought he was a nice horse,” said trainer Jessica Harrington. “He was working well with [Saturday's G2 Railway S. second] Rockaway Valley and I was hoping he'd come here and do that. He's entered in a few races, including the [G1] National S. at The Curragh in September], but we'll let the dust settle until later in the day and see what happens. He seemed to stay that six furlongs very well; he was pretty professional about it and when [jockey] Shane [Foley] asked him to go he did.” Harrington won the National S. in 2010 with Pathfork (Distorted Humor).
Final Frontier was purchased by BBA Ireland's Patrick Cooper for €37,000 at the Goffs Sportsman sale last year, and Cooper said he had been keeping his eye on the colt due to his interest in Final Frontier's elder half- sister Lola Beaux (GB) (Equiano {Fr}), GSP-Ire. “We bought the sister the year before, and she was a winner and Group 3-placed and sold to America earlier this year,” Cooper explained. “That's really why we were following this horse so closely. We waited all day to buy him and he came out late at night, and we just loved him.”
Final Frontier's breeder, Vimal Khosla, stayed in for a third of the colt the day after selling a Sea The Stars (Ire) filly out of his Group 1-producing mare Green Room (Theatrical {Ire}) for €1.1 million as the second-highest price at the Orby sale.
Cooper reiterated that Final Frontier would target the National S., and would likely take in the G2 Anglesey S. in the interim. “His main aim will be the National S., and he'll probably run before that in the G2 Anglesey S. back at The Curragh in three weeks' time, unless of course somebody buys him in the meantime,” Cooper said.
