Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense (Street Cry {Ire}) worked five furlongs at Churchill yesterday in preparation for the Oct. 27 GI Breedersí Cup Classic at Monmouth Park. The colt went the distance in 1:00.80 under jockey Calvin Borel. It was the second fastest of 30 at the distance and Churchill Downs clockers caught the Kentucky Derby winner in fractional times of :13, :25.20, :37 and :48.80 and he galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.40. ìWe got what we needed,î trainer Carl Nafzger said of the work. ìWe just need to keep him going. Heís ready. We need to just go up there and get into Monmouth and do our thing.î The work also satisfied Borel.
