Curlin Works at Keeneland

GI Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Curlin (Smart Strike), one of the favorites for Saturdayís GI Classic, breezed an easy four furlongs yesterday at Keeneland Race Course. The sophomore stopped the clock in :50 1/5, which ranked as the 24th fastest of 32 works at the distance. Trainer Steve Asmussenís assistant Scott Blasi is scheduled to arrive at Monmouth Park with Curlin on Tuesday, along with Asmussenís other two Breedersí Cup hopefuls, GI Juvenile contenders Pyro (Pulpit) and Kodiak Kowboy (Posse). That pair was also on Keenelandís worktab Monday. Pyro, who comes off a second in the GI Champagne S. at Belmont Sept. 30, worked four furlongs in :50 3/5, while Kodiak Kowboy got the same distance in :50 2/5.
