OíByrne on Fire at Tattersalls Friday

Irish veterinarian Demi OíByrne bought the top four lots at yesterdayís penultimate foal session of the Tattersalls December sale in Newmarket. His purchases were headed lot 1179, a colt by Galileo (Ire) that attracted a final bid of 470,000gns. The Coolmore agent fought off Tony Nerses for the full brother to 2006 G1 St Leger S. runner-up The Last Drop (Ire), who was bred in Ireland by Sunderland Holdings and offered from Brian Grassickís Newtown Stud. The session topper is out of Epping (GB) (Charnwood Forest {Ire}), whose Kingís Best filly sold for 180,000gns at this venue last year. Earlier in the session, OíByrne outbid John Ferguson for lot 1155, a 450,000gns son of Monsun (Ger). The coltís dam, Mandamou (Ger) (Ela-Mana-Mou {Ire}), was purchased for 130,000gns by 27-year-old Ronan Burns at last yearís December sale.
