The Japanese Racing Association announced that it has upgraded the bonus of its marquee event-the G1 Japan Cup-to $2 million, up from the previous mark of $1 million. A victory in one of the participating races in addition to a victory in the Japan Cup would yield a $2-million bonus payout coupled with the winner's share ($2.6 million) of the $5.6 million purse.
