Caulfield's Underwood undercard on Sunday also staged the two Guineas preps for colts and fillies. The G2 Caulfield Guineas Prelude resulted in a Snitzel (Aus) quinella, with Perast (Aus) tracking Summer Passage (Aus) throughout then overtaking his rival inside the final furlong. Summer Passage held on by a narrow margin from a flying Kementari (Aus) (Lonhro {Aus}). Perast was coming into the race off a seventh in the G1 Golden Rose S. on Sept. 23 and a third in the G2 Run to the Rose S. on Sept. 9.
One race earlier, Booker (Aus) (Written Tycoon {Aus}) had booked her place in the G1 Caulfield Thousand Guineas with a half-length win over Shoals (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and G1 Blue Diamond S. winner Catchy (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) in the G2 Thousand Guineas Prelude. Booker had been knocking on the door this campaign, with a second first-up in the G3 McNeil S. on Sept. 2 and a third behind Catchy in the G2 Danehill S. on Sept. 16.
Both Guineas' are at Caulfield on Oct. 14.
