Named a “TDN Rising Star” off an impressive debut victory in a Woodbine turf allowance Aug. 26, Wonder Gadot finished a close third as the favorite in the GI Natalma S. over that course Sept. 17 and was hammered down to even-money to earn her black-type badge in this switch to the polytrack. Seizing the early advantage, the $325,000 OBSAPR buy clocked early fractions of :24.87 and :49.86 while running two wide. Her stakes-winning stablemate Shamrock Rose closed the gap in the stretch, but Wonder Gadot still had plenty left in the tank and easily skipped clear to win for fun.
“The two turf races taught her a lot how to relax because anytime you work on the 'Poly', we put horses in front about five to 15 lengths and in two jumps she's past them,” said winning rider Patrick Husbands. “On the turf, she's a more relaxed filly, but on the 'Poly', she's the real deal.”
Pedigree Notes:
Wonder Gadot is a full-sister to SW & GSP Solemn Tribute. Their dam Loving Vindication, a daughter of GSW & GISP Chimichurri (Elusive Quality), is also responsible for a yearling filly by Hard Spun, who summoned $400,000 at the Keeneland September sale; and a weanling colt by Bodemeister. She was bred back to 2016 GI Kentucky Derby hero Nyquist.
