Eventful Morning For Pyro

Pyro (Pulpit), who jumped to the forefront of the Triple Crown fray with his impressive stretch run in the GIII Risen Star S., had to avoid a loose horse as he recorded his first workout since that win at Fair Grounds yesterday morning. Pyro was breezing around the far turn as the riderless horse came the wrong way along the inside rail, but exercise rider Dominic Terry guided the colt out to the middle of the track and away from any danger. “Dominic didnĂt hear the announcement [about the loose horse] because of the wind, but the outriders let him know,” trainer Steve Asmussen said. “[Pyro] went outside and the loose horse stayed on the rail.” The three-year-old went on to complete his eventful five-furlong move in 1:05 3/5.
