George Schwary's Georgie Boy (Tribal Rule), who would have been one of the favorites for Saturday's GI Santa Anita Derby, has been declared from the race and off the Triple Crown trail after being diagnosed with a pulled muscle in his back. “It's high on his back end and we don't know how long it will take [to heal], but we're not going to take a chance,” trainer Kathy Walsh said late Monday. “He was a little tight in his back end [Sunday] and we had him tested and X-rayed and everything was fine in that regard. He will not require surgery.” Winner of the GI Del Mar Futurity last summer, Georgie Boy is perfect in two tries this year, winning the GII San Vicente S. Feb. 10 prior to his victory in the GII San Felipe S. Mar. 15. From seven career starts, the California-bred has a record of 4-2-1 and earnings of $496,806.
