Recapturetheglory (Cherokee Run), the GII Illinois Derby winner who was most recently fifth in the GI Kentucky Derby May 3, will miss the chance to rematch with Big Brown after being declared out of Saturday's GI Preakness S. at Pimlico. The colt, owned in partnership by Louie Roussel III and Ronnie Lamarque, spiked a bit of a fever Saturday morning and blood was drawn. Lamarque made it official at 2 p.m., advising Pimlico officials of his decision. “The racehorse comes first,” he commented. “He had a slight temperature plus a slight pulse in his right front toe. For betterment of racing we are electing to give this horse some time and let him regroup. We are really going to miss the Preakness experience. We felt we had a live chance to turn the tables on Big Brown.”
