Observations On Saturday's European Racing Scene

By

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Saturday's Insights features action from Newbury and Leopardstown

1.10 Newbury, Cond, £8,000, 2yo, f, 8fT

Newsells Park Stud homebred HAZARFIYA (GB) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) is a sibling of four black-type performers headed by last term's G1 Epsom Derby and G1 Irish Derby hero Harzand (Ire) (Sea the Stars {Ire}), and opens up for Sir Michael Stoute here. Her rivals include Fitri Hay's hitherto untested Birch Grove (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who is a David Simcock-conditioned daughter of MGSW 2002 G1 Golden Jubilee S. and G1 July Cup placegetter Danehurst (GB) (Danehill); and Sven Hanson's once-raced Kiss Me Daily (Fr) (Reliable Man {GB}), who is kin to a quartet of stakes performers which includes 2014 G1 Epsom H. hero He's Your Man (Fr) (Cape Cross {Ire}) and 2005 G1 Prix Saint-Alary third Perfect Hedge (GB) (Unfuwain), from the Ralph Beckett stable.

1.25 Leopardstown, Mdn, €17,500, 2yo, f, 7fT

MOST GIFTED (War Front">War Front) is one of three from Ballydoyle and the biggest-priced on the tissue, but highly significant on pedigree as a daughter of the dual Classic-placed Gagnoa (Ire) (Sadler's Wells) who in turn is a half to Pour Moi (Ire). Understandably, market confidence is far more pronounced in her experienced stablemate Hence (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), a full-sister to the yard's MG1SW Alice Springs (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).
