Havana Gold's 2018 Fee Increased

Havana Gold | Tweenhills

Qatar Bloodstock's promising first-season sire Havana Gold (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}–Jessica's Dream {Ire}, by Desert Style {Ire}), will stand for an increased fee of £15,000 at Tweenhills Farm & Stud in England, reported Racing Post. Already the sire of 18 winners from just 58 starters, including G3 Bombay Sapphire Molecomb S. hero and G1 Darley Prix Morny runner-up Havana Grey (GB), as well as G3 Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Curragh S. heroine Treasuring (GB), the 2013 G1 Prix Jean Prat hero stood for £7,000 in 2017.

Havana Gold is joined by Group 2 winner Hot Streak (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}), who remains at £6,000. His first foals arrived this year, while three-time Group 1 hero Charm Spirit (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), who is standing as part of an agreement between Qatar Bloodstock and His Highness The Aga Khan at Haras de Bonneval, will command €20,000. Charm Spirit will return to Tweenhills Farm & Stud for 2019.

“We have been thrilled with Havana Gold's first runners and he looks tremendous value at £15,000,” Qatar Bloodstock manager David Redvers told Racing Post. “Hot Streak had outstanding natural speed and his foals look like they will share his precocity and pace. We've had very good feedback from breeders and can't wait to see them at the sales. Charm Spirit's yearlings were very well received, which was no surprise considering he was a triple Group 1 winner. We are expecting him to make a big impact with his first crop of runners.”

Fellow Qatar Bloodstock and Tweenhills resident Harbour Watch (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}–Gorband, by Woodman) has been pensioned on veterinary advice. The G2 Richmond S. victor has already sired G2 Prix Robert Papin winner Tis Marvellous (GB) among his four stakes winners, while the late Santry (Ire) looked like a horse with a bright future when runner-up in the G2 Norfolk S.

“Sadly, we have to announce the retirement of Harbour Watch from stud duties on veterinary advice,” continued Redvers. “He has arthritic joint issues relating to an accident that incurred during his racing career. His many winners include Tis Marvellous and Santry, who was one of this season's leading 2-year-olds prior to sadly being fatally injured.”
