No Surprises: Curlin Is Top Older Horse

He was not as dominant as in 2008, but Curlin (2004, Smart Strike–Sherriff's Deputy, by Deputy Minister) did plenty, and his record of 7-5-1-0 was plenty to earn him the Eclipse as top older horse. Owned by Jess Jackson's Stonestreet Stables and Midnight Cry, bred by Fares Farm Inc and trained by Steve Asmussen, Curlin headed to the breeding shed at Lane's End with North American record earnings of $10,501,800.
