1) What is your one essential to get you through the busy sales season?
Strong black coffee.
2) Which stallion's first yearlings impressed you most this year?
Australia (GB): lovely, easy moving horses with plenty of size, scope and quality. Australia was a champion himself, by a champion and out of a champion race mare. He has plenty going for him.
Slade Power (Ire): sharp and fast-looking horses. They look early and they all had a great step. We are breaking one at the moment and we like her.
No Nay Never: Baroda and Colbinstown Studs sold the nicest yearling I saw all year–the No Nay Never colt out of Muravka (Ire) to JS Company–for 850,000gns. He was stunning.
3) What horse springs to mind as your favourite purchase?
Dragon Pulse (Ire). He was purchased with Jim Ryan for Dr Tan Kai Chah. He was the winner of the G2 Futurity S. and second in the G1 National S. One for next year is Muirin (Ire), a 3-year-old filly by Born to Sea (Ire) in training with Eddie Lynam.
4) Finally, if you had to select one other agent to buy a horse for you, who would it be and why?
Mick Flanagan. We've been very lucky together in the past.
