Pedigree expert Andrew Caulfield ponders the possibility of a World Thoroughbred Ranking for two-year-olds, based on the juvenile analysis provided by the many international Free Handicaps. One of the top juveniles in Japan last year was Break Run Out (Smart Strike), who would have been rated some 22 pounds below leader Mastercraftsman (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), but moved himself up the list with a Group 3 win Sunday. Caulfield also takes a closer look at the colt's background, and his prospects for the Japanese Classics.
