Airlie Beach Tops Tatts Ire Session

Tattersalls Ireland's November National Hunt Sale came to a close on Friday with a single session of mares, which was topped by the Grade I winner Airlie Beach (Ire) (Shantou) (lot 1357) at €140,000. The 7-year-old mare was offered in foal to Mount Nelson (GB) and was bought by John Flood of Boardsmill Stud, which stands Mount Nelson.

“Her race record speaks for itself,” said Flood. “Even on her last run, when she won a listed race on the flat, she ran to a mark of 100. She is for a client who is putting together a band of broodmares, and, of course, we knew her due to her Mount Nelson cover. She is a good fit for him.”

The session's second-highest priced mare was the listed-placed winner I'm All You Need (Ire) (King's Theatre {Ire}) (lot 1382) in foal to Walk In The Park. She was bought by Marilyn Syme of Ashwood Stud for €62,000.

In all, 51 mares were sold on the day for €786,900, for an average of €15,429 and a median of €6,500.
