Azkadellia To Keep Sydney Group 1

Azkadellia | Racing and Sports

Azkadellia (NZ) (Shinko King {Ire}) will be allowed to keep her win in last year's G1 Coolmore Legacy S., as well as all her other Sydney form, following a verdict by Racing NSW stewards, Racing.com reports. Azkadellia is one of five horses caught up in an ownership scandal that resulted in trainer Ciaron Maher being suspended six months and his former racing manager Ben Connolly three years. Connolly had been the owner on record for the five horses, but it materialised in 2014 that convicted conman Peter Foster was involved in the ownership.

The decision by Racing NSW comes after Racing Victoria ruled to strip the mare of her Victorian form. Azkadellia also raced in Brisbane, and Queensland stewards indicated last year they would follow Victoria's ruling.
