Shakeel (Fr) (Dalakhani {Ire}–Shamiyra {Fr}, by Medicean {GB}), a winner of the G1 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris, will stand at Clongiffen Stud in Ireland next year after a deal was brokered by Guy Petit, Racing Post reported. Bred and raced by His Highness the Aga Khan, the Alain de Royer-Dupre trainee was also runner-up in the G2 Prix Hocquart Longines and third in the G3 Prix du Lys this season. Retired after injuring himself when victorious in the Grand Prix de Paris, the son of the unraced Shamiyra sports a record of 6-2-1-3, and earnings of $460,285.

“It will be a privilege to stand him in Ireland and hugely exciting to watch his stallion career take off into the top echelon in time,” new ownerMichael Egan told Racing Post. “Shakeel was a first-class racehorse with stunning good looks and he comes from a great Aga Khan family.”

Shakeel is out of a half-sister to G3 Prix Allez France heroine Shemiyla (Fr) (Dalakani {Ire}), while the French listed winner Shemala (Ire) (Danehill) is his second dam, who was produced by European highweight and G1 Prix de Diane Hermes victress Shemaka (Ire) (Nishapour {Fr}). This is also the family of English highweight and French MGSW Shemima (GB) (Dalakhani {Ire}) and her half-sister, SW Shemaya (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}).
