Newgate shuttler The Factor (War Front) registered his first winner Down Under on Friday when The Unknown Factor (Aus) scored at first asking in a 1000 metre maiden at Canberra for trainer Gratz Vella. According to Breednet.com.au, the gelding broke slowly and came from last to first up the fence. He won by 1 1/2 lengths at $4.40 from Lu's In Charge (Aus) (Charge Forward {Aus}).
The Factor, who stood at Newgate this season for an advertised fee of A$11,000, has stood his previous Northern Hemisphere seasons at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky. In 2018 he will stand at Japan's Bloodhorse Breeders' Association Farm on a one-year lease.
