Kaleem Shah's Take Control (A.P. Indy), who earned “TDN Rising Star” status with his debut victory at Santa Anita Dec. 30, has been taken off the Kentucky Derby trail, trainer Bob Baffert reported yesterday. “He's got sore shins and he just needs 60 days off,” Baffert said. “He's a little immature and they were bugging him, so I decided to just give him the time off.” The first foal of champion Azeri, Take Control will remain at the track and Baffert is hopeful the promising colt will return to the races for a summer campaign.
