Ron Charles, president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Turf Club, which operates Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California, has tendered his resignation from the track, effective with the end of business Wednesday, May 19. “It's been something I've been thinking about for a long time,” Charles, who joined parent company Magna Entertainment Corp. in November 2004, told Daily Racing Form. Charles met with Magna Chairman Frank Stronach this past Sunday to advise him of his decision. “I told him it was time to step down,” Charles told the trade daily.
