Juddmonte Farms announced Friday that 2003 GI Belmont S. winner and successful sire Empire Maker (Unbridled–Toussaud, by El Gran Senor) has been sold to the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. A homebred son of Juddmonte's Broodmare of the Year Toussaud, the dark bay stood for $50,000 at the Lexington, Kentucky, nursery in 2010. This year, the 10-year-old stallion has been represented by Grade I winner Acoma, as well as Grade II winners Acting Happy and Battle Plan. The latter was sold to Japan for stud duty earlier this year. Among the stallions currently standing at the JBBA's Shizunai Stallion Station are Bago (Fr), Johannesburg and Aldebaran.
