According to statistics released Thursday by The Jockey Club Information Systems Inc. (TJCIS), Frank Stronach's Adena Springs finished the 2010 season as the leading breeder in North America, with earnings of $13,369,852. Adena Springs was the leading breeder for the eighth consecutive season and was represented by the winners of 506 races from 3661 starts (13.8 percent). Including a handful of partnerships, Adena bred the winners of 519 races from 3739 starts. The year's second-leading breeder was Brereton C. Jones, who alone or in partnership bred the winners of 293 races from 1858 starts (15.7 percent) for earnings of $7,504,518. Both Adena Springs and Jones are among the Eclipse Award finalists and are joined by Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider, the breeders of Horse of the Year candidate Blame.
