Candrea (f, 2, Trippi–Burn Brightly, by American Chance), a $340,000 OBS March graduate, didn't show quite as much early speed as a lot of the firsters from the Bob Baffert barn, but she did display professionalism aplenty. Eased back off the pace just a bit while riding the rail, she accelerated through an opening at the inside at the quarter pole and strolled home a three-length debut winner Thursday afternoon at Hollywood Park. The attractive bay, who worked a quarter-mile in :21 1/5 with blinkers on for OBSMAR (video), was not equipped with the shades for the debut, and covered the 5 1/2 furlongs on Cushion Track in a solid 1:04.20.
