Havre de Grace Retired

Reigning Horse of the Year Havre de Grace (m, 5, Saint Liam–Easter Bunnette, by Carson City) has been retired from racing. The champion mare came out of a Sunday work at Churchill Downs with heat in her right front ankle. Further examination by Dr. Larry Bramlage at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital revealed ligament damage and retirement was recommended. “Owning Grace through her racing career has been the highlight of my time in horse racing,” owner Rick Porter said in making the announcement. “She was a wonderful, wonderful racehorse, and I feel confident she'll be an equally wonderful broodmare. Thanks, Grace, for all you gave us, and here's to a long and enjoyable retirement.”
