This year's G1 1000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}–Lagrion, by Diesis {GB}) has been retired, Aidan O'Brien announced yesterday. Successful by nine lengths in the Newmarket mile Classic in May, the 3/4-sister to Dylan Thomas (Ire) had failed to hit the board subsequently in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and G1 Coronation S. Owned by Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith, the Tower Bloodstock-bred filly who is also a half to Queen's Logic (Ire) (Grand Lodge) was the winner of four of her 16 starts including the G3 Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial. “It has been decided that Homecoming Queen has done enough and she has been retired,” the Ballydoyle conditioner said. “She was a brilliant filly and her performance at Newmarket was very special. She has a wonderful pedigree and did us all proud.”
