During its annual racing dates award meeting Tuesday, the Illinois Racing Board approved the 2013 live racing schedule in Chicago. After a day-long session, the motion was finally carried on a 6-2 vote. Among the most hotly contested issues on the agenda was the division of 'dark day' simulcasting revenue. When all was said an done, it was decided that Hawthorne will benefit from and additional 19 days of dark day simulcast wagering which translates into about $800,000 in purse revenue and $430,000 in commissions for the struggling track. Arlington Park, which in recent times has held a monopoly on January and early February simulcast days, will host 90 dark days in 2013, down from 107 in 2012.
