Trainer Darren Weir, who set a new Australian win record for most wins in a season of 449 during the 2016/2017 season, broke that record with import Sixties Groove (Ire) (Sixties Icon {GB}) at Flemington on Saturday. During a stellar day for the trainer, the yard celebrated multiple victories at Flemington (four) as well as Night Falls (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) in race three at Gawler and Leonardo Da Hinchi (Aus) (Hinchinbrook {Aus}) in the third race at Echuca. The last named brought Weir even with last year's record.
