From 2014, a new £4.5million “Champions Weekend” will see the current Dubai Future Champions Day moved to the Friday before Ascot's Qipco Champions Day. Newmarket's card, which will precede the recently-established Ascot centrepiece by 24 hours, will see the G1 Dubai Dewhurst S. run alongside the G1 Middle Park S. and the G1 Fillies' Mile. The European Pattern Committee also announced that from this year, Champions Day will feature three Group 1 races after the Fillies & Mares S. was upgraded from its previous Group 2 status. This year's edition has received a £350,000 increase in prize money, with the British Champions Fillies & Mares S. doubled in value to £500,000.
