Shadwell Lose Aqlaam

Shadwell's Aqlaam (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}–Bourbonella {GB}, by Rainbow Quest) has died after failing to respond to treatment to an infection to his guttural pouch. The 8-year-old first-season sire, who captured the G1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp and G2 Summer Mile in 2009, has six winners to date including last week's impressive Newmarket maiden winner Mitraad (Ire). Shadwell Director Richard Lancaster said, “This is an enormous blow to everyone involved with Aqlaam as it has come just as he was establishing himself as an exciting young stallion.”
