California-bred Points Offthebench (Benchmark), who tragically lost his life when training in the days leading up to the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint, was chosen by Eclipse voters as champion sprinter Saturday evening at Gulfstream Park. Points Offthebench won four of his five starts in 2013, including the GI Bing Crosby S. and the GI Santa Anita Sprint Championship. Points Offthebench outpointed GI Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Secret Circle (Eddington) and GI Met Mile winner Sahara Sky (Pleasant Tap) to secure the award.
