A story about the use of batteries, or ìbuzzers,î on racehorses has been posted on the New York Timesís website. The story revisits allegations contained in the PETA filings which has already been published, but reveals new material contained in the tapes as well.
ìTo authorities, it provided another clip–viewed by The New York Times–of two Asmussen employees speaking about how the Hall of Fame jockey Calvin Borel frequently employs a buzzer in morning workouts and to condition horses to run close to the rail, including the 2010 Kentucky Derby winner, Super Saver,î reads the story, written by Joe Drape. Borelís agent, Jerry Hissam, told the paper the allegations were ìridiculous.î The entire story may be read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/28/sports/new-light-on-seamy-role-of-buzzers-in-horse-racing.html
